World COPD Day 2024 is taking place this year on Nov 20th. To celebrate this day and also to take the opportunity to raise awareness about COPD there will be a number of COPD Information stands in shopping centres and Health Care facilities around the country providing information on COPD and the supports available to those living with this condition.
COPD Support Ireland are also marking World COPD Day by undertaking a Promotional Bus Tour, stopping at several locations across the country.
The COPD & Me Roadshow will see a team of COPD health professionals visit Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Newbridge and Mullingar to offer free spirometry testing and advice and information on COPD.
Separately, local COPD Support Ireland support group volunteers and local Health Care professionals will be organising information stands in Tallaght, Carlow, Castlebar, Waterford, Mayo, Laois, Sligo, Westmeath, Galway, Cork and many more locations. They will provide information on symptoms of COPD, local COPD supports, local exercise groups and much more information on COPD. Please visit our website www.copd.ie for a full list of locations.
TV celebrity cook and 2024 COPD Support Ireland ambassador, Catherine Leyden will also be visiting some of the locations with the bus so please come along and have a chat with her.
This year’s events are aimed once more at raising awareness about COPD, asking people to know the symptoms of COPD and the supports available if you think you may have them. Know your ABCs of COPD!
So please come along and support your local COPD information stand. Buy an anniversary pin or recommend to someone that you think might benefit from talking to us to come along for a chat. We look forward to seeing you there!
We are thrilled to introduce our new Ambassador, Catherine Leyden, the Odlums Lady and Baking Queen for Ireland AM! Catherine is living with COPD and understands only too well the challenges this brings to her daily life. Thank you Catherine for your support!
