Welcome to COPD Support Ireland’s Save Your Breath page.
Irish Pharmacy Union’s COPD awareness week is just around the corner! Starting next Monday, June 19th, 2017 through June 23rd, 2017 IPU week will begin. COPD Support Ireland in collaboration with the Irish Pharmacy Union are hosting a COPD awareness week in their 1750 community pharmacies. It is an oppurtunity to talk about your symptoms if you are concerned about COPD or have your inhaler technique checked.
We would like to thank our generous sponsors A. Menarini and GlaxoSmithKline for without whom, none of this would be possible.
We will be ending the week off with a two day, 250km cycle from Galway to Dublin on June 23rd to June 24th, 2017. Hope to see you there!
The site is full of useful information and resources. We are delighted to have the risk screener available here. More than 380,000 people in Ireland have COPD but 270,000 people do not know they have it.
You can take the risk screener here. It takes less than a minute to find out if you are at risk of COPD.

If your total score is 5 or more, your breathing problems may be caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The higher your score, the more likely you are to have COPD.
If you are experiencing problems with your breathing, please share your answers to the five question screener with your healthcare professional (HCP). Only your HCP can decide if you have COPD. Your HCP can also help evaluate your breathing problems by performing a breathing test, also known as spirometry.
Call your HCP today to make an appointment to see if you may be at risk for COPD. Remember, when speaking to your HCP, be honest and open in describing your symptoms and explain how your breathing problem affect your activity level on a daily basis.
You can review your responses and print your results.
