To coincide with World COPD Day 2018 we held our 2nd NATIONAL PATIENT CONFERENCE at the Royal College of Physicians on Kildare Street. Over 150 delegates attended from our Support Groups countrywide. The theme of the Conference was LET’S GET MOVING ON COPD.
The Guest Speaker was Professor Lorcan McGarvey from Queens University in Belfast who spoke about The Breadth Initiative, which was followed by a very useful session on initiatives in patient self management which was enjoyed by all. After a wonderful lunch together the group broke out into workshops which focused on activities which the groups might like to set up themselves including Art therapy, Singing for breathing and Coping with Breathlessness.
The latest publication from COPD SI was also launched at the Conference, COPD AND ME
The conference was opened by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Nial Ring and hosted by the Chair of COPD Support Ireland Professor JJ Gilmartin, seen here with Board Member Cherry Wynn
